Statistics: 2022 Auction Sales
We love crunching numbers but sales doesn't factor in to our analysis of the services that WATA and VGA provide.
We just think it is interesting.
- WATA graded: 9875
- Total Value: $20,967,349
- VGA graded: 3303
- Total Value: $2,899,948
Processing Speed
Winner: VGA
Both companies have different ways to calculate processing times, but we didn't care about all the "fluff". We only cared about the time it took from when we sent them the games to when we got them back - it took WATA 10 months while VGA only took 6 months.
The above times were submitted to both companies under their lowest cost "sealed games" tier. VGA doesn't grade opened games. We did, however, submit one opened game to WATA under the much more expensive "Turbo" tier that came back a whopping 7 months late.
Processing Fees
These were the tiers available to us at the time of submission. Some tiers may not have been available due to company backlog. Fees may change depending on the value of games.
- WATA lowest tier Sealed games $60
- WATA lowest tier Opened games $200
- VGA lowest tier Sealed games $90
Customer service
Both companies answered questions quickly and respectfully. If I were to give one company the slight advantage over the other, it would be VGA. VGA returned the protective game cases to me with the graded games.
Holder Design
This one very subjective but in my opinion, VGA wins. VGA's cases are sleek. WATAs are clunky. See YT video for images that illustrate this argument.
Grading Accuracy
Also very subjective but VGA appears to grade harder than WATA. We had brand new games, hand selected from Gamestop, returned from VGA with below average grades.
